Cool drink yaake?

Its sad that companies selling alcohol have to resort to surrogate advertising in order to market their products. Sometimes its funny, for e.g., UB advertises their pint sized UB Export beer using their UB soda and stating that since this "soda" is available for about the same prize as a bottle of cool drink, why would anyone want to drink a cool drink when they could have the "soda" instead? Its pretty obvious which product this ad is pushing.

One more example is the ad for Fling. Fling CDs and music casettes that is, not for the identically labeled vodka. Again its pretty obvious what the ad is for. Sometimes I wonder, if these surrogates are really available in the market. Maybe the companies make small amounts of these products to be able to state that they really are advertising them instead of the surrogates.

India is really a nanny state, where the authorities need to tell everyone what's good for them and what's not. Heck, we are all children who can't be trusted with alcohol, among other things.

At any rate, it makes for interesting and sometimes wickedly funny advertising.

Bagpiper club soda, anyone?
