Khosla Ka Ghosla

Finally watched Khosla Ka Ghosla yesterday. Am I glad I did! The last movie I enjoyed so much was Omkara. One thing I miss in Hindi movies is natural acting. Playing the character and not overdoing it. All the actors in Khosla Ka Ghosla were excellent at this. Ranvir Shourie plays the "good-for-nothing son" beautifully, Anupam Kher was very competent as usual. Boman Irani was outstanding, that man is truly gifted. Only Tara Sharma's accent grated a little but she did a fine job too. All the actors playing bit parts like the huge Jat chowkidar, the sardar friend, the secretary and the sleazy estate agent were bang on target as far as realism is concerned. None of them were unrealistic. The passport fixer (Vinay Pathak, I think) was outstanding as well. The length of the movie was just about right and fitted the story pretty well.

Good stuff.

Bandh

Chootia Kannadiga chauvinists imposed a Karnataka bandh yesterday and as a result most offices, all schools and colleges were closed. Small shopkeepers and business people were the worst affected and a flower seller was lamenting the fact that he lost lots of business yesterday. Only the comparatively well-off office-goers could afford the luxury of relaxing and taking it easy.

The hypocrisy of denying Belgaum to Maharashtra while asking Kerala to part with Kasargode escapes these chauvinists!
