Incompetent refereeing in the World Cup

The refereeing in this edition of the World Cup in Germany has been atrocious at times and incompetent at other times. The penalty awarded to Italy in their match against the Soceroos was shameful. It cost Australia the match!

In yesterday's Brazil against Ghana match, Adriano was clearly offside but was not given so and the goal he scored proved decisive. Again Adriano was awarded a yellow card for falling inside the penalty area, the brain dead referee thought he was play acting while replays showed that the fall was not deliberate!

The referees has been too liberal in handing out yellow cards for the slightest offence. FIFA should be whacked for this! Some of the decisions are clearly ludicrous. It spoils the enjoyment of the game.

Now that the quarter final lineups are final here's who I think will win their match

Germany against Argentina - this is a tough call and will be the best match of the quarters and I cannot predict who will win

Italy against Ukraine - Italy should pull through on the basis of their sheer defending ability

England against Portugal - considering how crappy England have been in all their matches, Portugal should win. I also think that Scolari is a better coach than Erickkson

Brazil against France - again a tough call but Brazil on current form should make it through not to mention that they are getting better with each outing
