In his column Leave the Army alone! Col. Anil Athale (retd.) makes interesting observations about the courts. The same observations can be extended to individual Indians, the idiotic desi dork media (both print and electronic), politicians and bureaucrats. These people don't understand the nature and role of an army. The army is here to defend our country and they have their own traditions and rules. The common man takes absolutely no effort to understand them at all. Neither do the media, the p0liticians and bureaucrats.

Therefore we have the stupid CAG remarking innumerable times that war wastage reserves (the ammunition kept in reserve by the army to be used in times of war) is a waste and needs to be cut down! I assume the CAG believes it can predict when war will break out!

Therefore you have innumerable idiotic media types who have no understanding of matters military, making innumerable laughable statements on weapon systems, tactics, doctrine and strategy. If it is their job to educate the general public, they are doing a brilliant job of it. Not!

All I would wish for is atleast a little bit of understanding about why things are the way they are. And a little bit of fairness.

For quite some time now, assorted DRDO bashers having been having a go at DRDO by focusing purely on negative news like the alleged failures of the Arjun tank, the LCA jet and the Trishul and Akash SAM programs. The considerable amount of successes that DRDO has had in other areas have been deliberately ignored by these worthies.
