Fifteen species of birds in fifteen minutes

Last Sunday evening we managed to spot fifteen species of birds in as many minutes from our terrace. This is good because there is still a lot of birdlife to be found on the outskirts of an increasingly unlivable Bangalore.

This is what we spotted:
  1. Jungle crow
  2. Common Mynah
  3. Spotted Munia
  4. Large pied wagtail
  5. Little cormorant (flying overhead)
  6. Rose ringed parakeet
  7. Small green bee-eater
  8. Indian tree-pie
  9. Spotted dove
  10. Pariah kite (very nice views as it was perched not far away from us)
  11. Brahminy kite
  12. Koel (heard)
  13. Grey partridge (heard)
  14. Cattle egret (flying overhead in a V formation)
  15. Pied bush chat (around five males and one female)
The next morning we were able to add the following three birds
  1. Black drongo
  2. Purple rumped sunbird (both male and female)
  3. White breasted kingfisher
