Book stores in Bangalore and discounts offered
Since I buy a few books once in a while I usually enquire about discounts. Here's what I have been offered at some select book stores
1. Strand - 20%
2. Premier - 20%
3. Fountainhead - 10%
Gangaram never offers any discount. Higginbothams doesn't either. Nor does Landmark. I haven't tried Crossword yet, but will soon as I have their gift voucher worth 250 bucks. Yum.
Gangaram is the best place to go to if you need to locate something, they have a vast collection. Strand has a pathetic collection of books in comparison and although they promise to source something for you, they never keep their promise. At least that has been my experience with them, not that Gangaram is much better but atleast they try.
Strand is the best place to go if you want to see some books on sale. Sometimes you find the book you are looking for.
Fountainhead has a decent collection of sci-fi books.
Premier is packed full of books and you never know what you might find.
Landmark also has tons of books, but their collection of books on nature is not good. Gangaram has the best collection of books on nature, but sadly not the one I've been searching for.
William Penn in Koramangala (next to Barista) doesn't offer any discount, but they had a decent collection of books on nature. A nice collection of books by Indian authors too. And hardly anyone at the book section on the first floor. Browse to your heart's content :-)
